The Way of Intelligent Infrastructure

Intelligent Infrastructure Blog - The Way of Intelligent Infrastructure

“You must be formless, shapeless like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot…” – Bruce Lee

Perhaps Bruce isn’t the first person to come to mind when we think of IT but in today’s world IT organizations must be formless. They must respond to the needs of the business at what seems like a moment’s notice, often requiring leaders to wrestle with maintaining existing systems while simultaneously retooling for new initiatives.

Caught in the middle of this balancing act are our most valuable assets: our staff. After all, technology without skilled professionals to implement and administer it is useless.

The shape of IT will continue to change.

In the first blog in this series, I posed a question: What if you could replace anxiety, in the face of a constantly changing business, with confidence?

In the second blog, I explained what Intelligent Infrastructure is and how it resolves an age-old misalignment in the data center, freeing up resources, and saving thousands of operational hours per year through advanced machine learning and intelligent self-administration.

In this blog, I aim to answer the question: Why?

So why should we implement Intelligent Infrastructure?

Well the short answer is: We have to.

The long answer is that as IT professionals we must rise to meet the demands of the business, retooling our staff to meet these new challenges, while also managing our existing systems.

Failing to do so will only result in continued attrition, growing skills gaps, and diminution of our roles as leaders.

By simply replacing standard storage infrastructure with Intelligent Infrastructure, organizations can free up as much as 2000 hours of management effort per year, offsetting nearly half a million dollars of administrative overhead over the life of the system.

With Intelligent Infrastructure, operational efficiency grows as the environment grows.

This is not hyperbole. Tintri customers experience this level of operational savings without exception and these savings empower them to retool, deliver higher levels of service, and to adapt to the changing shape of IT with their existing staff.

As we recover from the effects of the global pandemic and take stock in what services we need to enable to mitigate similar challenges in the future, whether that be Virtual Desktops, self-service systems, or something we have yet to conceive, Intelligent Infrastructure is a necessary step in enabling these possibilities for any organization.

Information Technology can flow…or it can crash. You are water my friends

I invite you to our upcoming webcast where three experts including Gartner analyst Phil Dawson, a Tintri customer, and myself will discuss the many benefits Intelligent Infrastructure and provide real-world examples of why it warrants your consideration. I look forward to seeing you there.

Regards,

Erwin
